September 8, 2021 (Lakeside) – Kumeyaay activists, including Barona tribal member Bobby Wallace, are organizing a walk in Arizona Sept. 25-28 to protest an Australian mining corporation’s plan to extract lithium that threatens the Hualapai Nation’s water and ancestral sites.

UNIONS HOLD RALLY ON JUNETEENTH IN LA MESA

June 20, 2020 (La Mesa) -- La Mesa was once again the location of demonstration in support for Black Lives Matter.  This time the event was sponsored by many Labor Unions, which make up the San Diego Imperial County Labor Council, and was promoted as the Labor for Black Lives Caravan. It was held on June 19th, a date  known as Juneteenth which commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S.

June 2, 2020 (La Mesa) – Leslie Furcron, 59, a La Mesa resident and grandmother shot in the forehead with a projectile Saturday night during the George Floyd protest at La Mesa Police headquarters, is now in a medically induced coma and may lose an eye, according to her attorney, Dante T. Pride.

PROTESTORS IN CA, US STAND AGAINST WHITE SUPREMACY

April 27, 2017 (Washington, D.C.) -- Hundreds of Indigenous people from around the country converged on the Trump Hotel tonight to project messages of resistance, and hold a traditional round dance that shut down Pennsylvania Ave and 12th St NW for about half an hour starting at 9 p.m. Messages projected on the side of the Trump Hotel included “#IndigenousRising,” “Resist Trump,” “Resist Pipelines,” and “Renew Treaties.”
