September 5, 2016 (Spring Valley) – A 17-year-old was arrested yesterday and is being charged with willfully and maliciously setting fire to forest land, CAL FIRE reports.  The juvenile is believed to be responsible for starting the Pointe Fire on August 17th, which charred 25 acres in Spring Valley, forced evacuation of homes, put the public at risk and injured a firefighter.

The wildfire necessitated a full firefighting response with multiple fire engine crews and aircraft to battle the brush fire on lands between homes on Pointe Parkway and residential parcels adjacent to South Barcelona and Ledgeside Street.

The investigation was conducted by CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire Authorities, along with the San Diego City Metro Arson Strike Team.
