TEEN STRUCK BY TROLLEY IN LA MESA

February 21, 2012 (La Mesa) - A 17-year-old boy was struck by a trolley in downtown La Mesa today after attempting to beat the trolley by running across the tracks.  La Mesa Patch reports the teen suffered "survivable" injuries and was conscious when rescued shortly after 11 a.m. today.

He was trapped beneath the trolley and rescued by Heartland Fire and Rescue, the transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to Peter Diehl with Incident Page Network, a medical helicopter was on standby but the victim was transported by firefighter-paramedics to a nearby hospital.
