TELLER FOILS BANK ROBBERY ATTEMPT IN LA MESA

August 12, 2012 (La Mesa)—A woman who claimed to be armed attempted to rob Cabrillo Credit Union at 7900 El Cajon Boulevard in La Mesa on August 9.  The suspect, who wore a black and white polka dot scarf covering her head and face, left empty-handed after a teller refused to turn over the money.

La Mesa Police Department received a call reporting a robbery in progress at 4:32 p.m.   An employee reported that the suspect entered the credit union and approached a teller window. The suspect then pulled an unknown object that was covered with a cloth from her handbag and pointed it at the teller, demanding money.  When the teller would not hand over money, the  suspect fled northbound in the alley behind the credit union on foot.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned unknown race female, possibly white or Hispanic, unknown age, about 5’6” tall, medium build, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, large framed sunglasses, and a black scarf with white polka dots covering her head and face. She was carrying a large black leather handbag.
