January 14, 2017 (El Cajon) – Michael McGinley, 53, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon after shooting his tenant, Glen Reese, 48, in the leg.  The altercation occurred January 12 at 10:20 a.m. at 10140 Valle De Paz Road in unincorporated El Cajon.

According to Detective Garth Schick with the San Diego Sheriff, the two men live in separate units on the same property.  After a dispute over payment of utility bills, Reese went to McGinley’s residence because he believed the landlord had turned off electricity to his house.

“When Reese confronted McGinley, McGinley pointed a 10 mm handgun at him and fired two rounds,” Detective Schick says. “The first shot missed Reese but the second shot struck him in his upper right leg near his hip.”

Reese was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening injury. McGinley was taken to San Diego Central Jail for booking.
