TORNADO ALERT ISSUED FOR NORTH CENTRAL SAN DIEGO COUNTY

January 6, 2015 3:23 p.m. (San Diego County) -- The National Weather Service has issued a tornado alert for North Central San Diego County.. We quote:

* AT 256 PM PST... DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THIS DANGEROUS STORM WAS LOCATED OVER TORREY PINES... OR OVER UNIVERSITY CITY... AND MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... UNIVERSITY CITY... LA JOLLA... TORREY PINES... MIRAMAR... SORRENTO VALLEY... DEL MAR HEIGHTS... MIRA MESA... CARMEL VALLEY AND TORREY PRESERVE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 

    TAKE COVER NOW. MOVE TO A BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A STURDY BUILDING. AVOID WINDOWS. IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME OR OUTDOORS... MOVE TO THE CLOSEST SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER AND PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FLYING DEBRIS.
