April 26, 2016 (Ramona) –Sheriff’s deputies responded to a trespass call Saturday afternoon at a home in the 600 block of "D" street in Ramona, where they found an 57-year-old man who appeared agitated, according to the deputies.

Lieutenant John Maryon with the Sheriff’s homicide detail reports that as deputies tried to check the man for weapons, “he pulled away from them and pulled a gun from his waistband.” The man then shot himself in the head, Lt. Maryon said.

The injured man was taken via air ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died.

An autopsy is pending. None of the deputies discharged their firearms and the deputies were not injured.
