TWO BODIES FOUND IN BURNED ALPINE HOME

October 13, 2015 (Alpine) – The bodies of a 43-year-old woman and a man of unknown age were found by firefighters inside a burned home in the 700 block of South Grade Road in Alpine.  The Alpine Community Network reports that the woman was a mother of three.

Her teen daughter broke a window and escaped, along with another person, but both suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns and were taken to a hospital. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries, according to Alpine Fire’s Facebook page.

The family also lost pets and vehicles, as well as all of their possessions. Their home is a total loss.  Alpine Community Network reports that a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the surviving family members with expenses including medical bills. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries, according to Alpine Fire’s Facebook page.

Firefighters arrived at 1:15 a.m.Saturday to find the home engulfed in flames, 10 News reports.Crews from Alpine and Lakeside Fire Departments, Heartland Fire and Rescue as well as Cal-Fire responded to the fire, which briefly spread into nearby trees and bushes before it was finally extinguished.

The Sheriff’s Bomb Arson unit is investigating, as is customary whenever a death occurs in a fire. Cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
