Firm name changes to Crowley Law Group

 
July 11, 2011 (San Diego)--After a more than a quarter century as a sole criminal defense attorney, Michael L. Crowley has brought two independent associates on board and changed the company name from the Law Offices of Michael L. Crowley to Crowley Law Group. The firm has offices in El Cajon and San Diego.
 
 
Andre L. Verdun, 29, of Ventura, Calif., joined the firm after an internship with Michael Crowley that culminated in him earning a master’s degree in Federal Criminal Trial Defense Advocacy from California Western Law School’s LL.M. program. In the process, Verdun graduated from the “Trial Skills Academy” put on by the offices of Federal Defenders in Washington D.C. Verdun received his juris doctor degree from Southern California Institute of Law in Ventura, where he interned with the County Public Defender’s Office, acquiring valuable experience in state criminal defense. He also assisted a private solo practice in the filing of Chapter 7 consumer bankruptcy cases.
 
Verdun primarily focuses his practice defending the rights of the criminally accused, protecting the rights of consumers, and defending consumers against abusive debt collection practices from original creditors and third party debt collectors.
 
 
Emily M. Crowley (Michael’s 31-year-old daughter), received her juris doctor degree from her father’s alma mater, California Western School of Law where she earned the Academic Achievement Award in California Sentencing Law. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and advanced mediation training from the National Conflict Resolution Center in San Diego.Raised in East County, she is also a graduate of Granite Hills High School.
 
While in law school, Emily Crowley interned with Appellate Defenders, Inc., gaining valuable experience in state criminal appeals. She also worked as a research assistant for Professor Laurence Benner, examining probable cause standards in search warrants issued in San Diego County.
 
After graduation, Emily volunteered with the California Innocence Project investigating inmates’ claims of factual innocence. She currently volunteers for the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, where she mediates disputes between juveniles in the County of San Diego Probation Department’s Girls’ Rehabilitation Facility; the Girls Think Tank, a homeless advocacy group in San Diego; and the New Lawyer Division Continuing Legal Education committee. She also recently served as a volunteer speaker for the 2011 American Civil Liberties Union Constitution Day.
 
Collectively, the attorneys of Crowley Law Group handle all types of criminal matters, state, federal and municipal code violations in addition to appeals on all levels. They also specialize in several civil law matters including civil rights, abusive or harassing debt  collection, and administrative matters such as governmental agencies taking action against your driver’s, medical, nursing, DMV, real estate licenses or threatening you with code violations.
