September 1, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - Thirsty lawns and fussy shrubbery are out of place in East County. The Earth Discovery Institute's (EDI) annual Native Plant Sale is a great opportunity to locally source native plants.

The first sale, September 27, will be held from 7:30am to 1pm at the Crestridge Ecological Reserve (61171 Horsemill Road, El Cajon/Crest 92921).

A second sale will be held on Octocber 4, at the Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve, south of Jamul on Hwy 94 (14715 Campo Road).

The sale features a wide selection of native drought tolerant, fires resistant, bird and pollinator attracting shrubs, trees, succulents and bunch grasses. Native plant experts will be in hand to answer questions.

Sales benefit the non-profit EDI's environmental education and outreach programs.
