VICTIMS OF THREE ACCIDENTS IDENTIFIED

July 17, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – The San Diego County Coroner has released the names of victims who died as the result of three accidents on roadways in East County and San Diego’s eastern regions this week, including two motor vehicle crashes and a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist.

 

Claude C. Turpin, 75, struck an embankment on Montezuma Valley Road (S-22)in Ranchita on July 16. He was extricated from his Toyota pickup truck and transported to Warner Springs airport, but died before he could be transported to a trauma center. Turpin resided with his wife in Borrego Springs. He was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

Paul Terpolilli, 61, was riding a bicycle on East Valley Parkway in Escondido when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on July 10. A passerby found him and called 911. He was transported via ambulance to Palomar Hospital, where he responded to resuscitation but later died of major injuries on July 13. Terpolilli and his wife resided in San Marcos. The San Diego Sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
 

Moses Jovid Muhammad, 64, a divorced Native American man who resided in Alpine, died at the scene of an accident on Tavern Road July 15. He was driving his 1989 Mercury Cougar southbound when he struck a parked car. A neighbor heard the crash and called 911. Witnesses pulled him from the vehicle and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene of chest and abdominal injuries.
