August 16, 2016 (La Mesa) -- Six candidates are running for three seats on the Grossmont Healthcare District board of directors. In addition to incumbents Bob Ayres and Michael Emerson, four other candidates have filed papers to run—including some prominent challengers.
Art Madrid, who served as La Mesa Mayor and Councilman for over 25 years, and Priscilla Schreiber, Trustee on the Grossmont Union High School District Board, await official confirmation of qualification for the ballot. Two other candidates’ qualifications are confirmed: registered nurse/businesswoman Virginia Hall and certified public accountant Jimmy Parker.
Grossmont Healthcare District is a public district is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected at large to four-year terms. Overseeing the Sharp Grossmont Hospital, the district represents more than one-half million people residing within the District’s 750 square miles in San Diego’s East County region.
