January 17, 2012 (Spring Valley)--Working tirelessly for the last eight weeks, the Young Actors’ Theatre has successfully brought to life the beloved cast of Legally Blonde The Musical with an unbeatable combination of talent, wit and lots of pink (of course!).

The founder of Young Actors’ Theatre (YAT) and Executive Director of YAT’s Legally Blonde, Jean Isaac, always knew she wanted to bring Legally Blonde to their company. “I was overseas when I got word that the rights were being released and that did not stop me,” Isaac revealed. “I guess there is a little Elle Woods in all us girls.”

Featuring YAT’s Senior division, Legally Blonde the Musical follows the pretty and perky Elle Woods (played by Megan Martin), a sorority girl and fashionista-extraordinaire from Malibu. After her boyfriend (played by Anthony Fisher) dumps her for someone “more serious,” Elle decides that the only way to win him back is to follow him across the country to attend Harvard Law School, where she makes new friends like Emmett (played by Derrick Gaffney) and Paulette (played by Danielle Gulihur) while simultaneously proving that it’s always in style to be true to yourself.

“What I love about this story is that Ms. Woods does not see the stereotypes of society as roadblocks to fulfilling her heart’s desire,” Isaac added. “Her spunk and sparkle is something we can all find humor and hope in watching.”

With catchy songs such as “What You Want,” “Ireland,” “Positive” and “Bend and Snap,” the immense talent within YAT is unquestionable. Matched with amazing choreography and spectacular costumes, this performance of Legally Blonde is one you simply can’t miss.

Located in San Diego at 6611 University Avenue, the Kroc theatre has performances of Legally Blonde on January 20 and 21 at 7:00 p.m., January 21 at 7:00 p.m. and January 22 at 3:00 p.m.

Young Actors’ Theatre is an award winning non-profit California Corporation founded in the belief that the arts are an essential part of every child’s education. To give opportunities to as many children as possible, YAT has divided its programs into two categories: Junior Division (grades 2-8) and Senior Division (grades 8- age 26).
