June 20, 2014 (San Diego)--Rady Children’s Hospital is staging a “Safe Kids Day” program on Saturday, June 21, at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center from 9:30 to 2:00. The emphasis is to keep children safe while exploring and enjoying the outdoors. All activities will take place at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center.
9:30 - Outdoor Recreation and Exercise with Dr. Jamie Friedman, Children’s Primary Care Medical Group.
9:30 - Guided Nature Walk
10:15 – 11:00 “How to Prepare for a Safe and Fun Outdoor Experience” Greg Gates, Youth Program Coordinator for San Diego Mountain Rescue.
11:00-11:30 “Safely explore the trails and wonders of Mission Trails”, a special program for children and parents in the Visitor Center Theater featuring Volunteer Trail Guide Steve Haiman.
11:45 & 1:00 Children’s Story Time in the Visitor Center Library
"Josh the Otter" and "Tales are for Wagging". For children 10 and under.
9:30 – 2:00 There will be a several special displays in the Visitor Center including: two interactive Discovery Tables; “Kumeyaay Children’s Games & Toys", and Creatures and Camouflage” staffed by Volunteer Trail Guides, live reptiles with Alicia Berg, the National Park service “Become a Web Ranger”, Children’s Physicians Primary Care Group, Live Well San Diego, and the San Diego Astronomy Association will have a “Solar Scope” on the Visitor Center Terrace for viewing sunspots and prominences
