SUNSHINE HORTON TO HOLD DINNER SEPT. 10 IN EL CAJON TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

August 15, 2017 (El Cajon) – Today is Sunshine Horton’s 72nd birthday. Each year since 1995, Sunshine Horton has done a Miracle Maker birthday to raise money for Rady Children’s Hospital.

“For my 50th birthday I wanted to thank this country for giving me such a great life and I wanted to do something special, so I went to the Sheriff’s Department and they told me to do a walk.

FOSTER MOM ZELDIN STILL NEEDS HELP

 

August 5, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) –Last month we reported on community efforts to help Debra Zeldin, a foster mom with several special needs children.  Thieves stole her van and crashed it, leaving her with no transportation  since her insurance didn’t cover damage due to vehicle theft.  Now we’ve received an update from Zeldin with both good and bad news.

January 27, 2015 (San Diego) - San Diego’s first pediatric heart transplant patient was released from Rady Children’s Hospital Tuesday. This is following a 12 day stay and a successful surgery.

November 6, 2014 (San Diego County) - Help brighten the holidays for a sick child at Rady Children's Hospital.  The San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Probation Department are co-hosting this year's San Diego Regional Law Enforcement Teddy Bear Drive. The public is invited to join in on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Chick-fil-A Sports Arena, 3570 Sports Arena Boulevard.

September 13, 2014 (San Diego) – A virus suspected of sickening hundreds of children in the Midwest this summer is spreading across the nation, with 80 cases confirmed, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reports.

“SAFE KIDS DAY” AT MISSION TRAILS VISITOR CENTER JUNE 21

 

June 20, 2014 (San Diego)--Rady Children’s Hospital is staging a “Safe Kids Day” program on Saturday, June 21, at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center from 9:30 to 2:00.  The emphasis is to keep children safe while exploring and enjoying the outdoors.  All activities will take place at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center. 

POLONIA UNITED HOSTS EVENT TO BENEFIT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL JULY 12 IN LA MESA

 

July 12, 2014 (La Mesa) – Polonia United invites the public to attend a charity event to benefit Rady Children’s Hospital. The benefit begins at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by a live music concert by artist Ivan Quiceno from 7-9 p.m. as well as a silent auction.  The event costs $25 per person and will be held at 4518 Mayapan Drive in La Mesa, CA 91941.

LA MESA POLICE DEPARTMENT HOSTS TOY DRIVE

 

November 9, 2013 (La Mesa) – The La Mesa Police Department is hosting a toy drive on behalf of the City of La Mesa to support Rady Children’s Hospital. The collection box is located in the La Mesa Police station lobby and they will be collecting toys until November 14, 2013. The La Mesa Police Department will transport the collected toys to AJ’s crane on November 15th. All toys must be new and sealed in their original packaging.  Rady Children’s Hospital also asks that no toys include guns, religious themes, or violent games.

December 1, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)--Heartland Fire & Rescue and Rady Children’s Hospital offer the following advice to keep you and your family safe this holiday season.

Burns: The typical burn injury seen during the holidays is a scald.  When adults enjoy hot liquids during colder weather, a small child may reach up for your cup and spill hot liquid, such as hot chocolate, coffee or soup. Spilling this scalding hot liquid onto their face, neck, hands and arms. Scald burns are the second leading cause of all burns according to the National Fire Protection Association(NFPA).

December 26, 2011 (San Diego)--San Diego County Credit Union  (SDCCU), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution with three local East County branch offices in El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee, is collecting toys for Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, the largest children’s hospital in California. As part of SDCCU’s second annual Winter Toy Drive, new unwrapped toys can be dropped off at any one of SDCCU’s 28 branch locations in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties through Jan. 7, 2012.

December 23, 2011 -- (San Diego County) -- Give your child the joy of opening an additional holiday present and give yourself peace of mind if you get them a bike, skateboard or scooter. The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Rady Children’s Hospital and Racers and Chasers are teaming up to remind people that those gifts need to be accompanied by a properly-fitted helmet, as well as wrist guards and elbow and knee pads if it’s a skateboard.
