May 26, 2016 (El Cajon) -- The 3rd annual America on Main Street in El Cajon was a big hit with young and old alike!

It all began with a Coast Guard helicopter flyover just as a large U.S flag was raised high into the air on the El Cajon fire truck ladder from Station 6.

The event started off a little slow, yet as the day progressed, more and more people showed up to join in with the fun and celebration, and the weather was fantastic--partly cloudy and cool to warm, not hot like El Cajon can get.

Entertainment was everywhere I went. Three stages of live music featured a variety of genres, people dancing, a couple of Didgeridoo players, Folklorico dancers and so much more.

As I walked about, the air seemed electric with the good vibes of excitement which surrounded me. Happiness and smiles were evident on many eager faces as people were obviously enjoying themselves.

Aromatic odors perfumed the air from a variety of different food booths from many cultures, which made me hungry; I wanted to sample everything in an attempt to satiate my taste buds.

I’ll certainly try to be at the next America on Main Street; how about you?
