AZTEC TRACK & FIELD WRAPS UP DAY ONE AT THE DON KIRBY INVITATIONAL

February 9, 2018 (Alberquerque) - The San Diego State track and field team wrapped up day one of the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Friday evening. The evening was highlighted by Ellison Grove’s No. 2 finish in the 600 and Lisa Anne Barrow’s long jump of 19-09.75, a top-ten mark in program history.

Grove’s time of 1:33.41 was just 0.07 seconds behind the first place finisher, Linnea Saltz out of Central Arizona.

Lisa Anne Barrow had the fifth best long jump, clearing 19-09.75, which is tied for the sixth best jump in program history. She finished third amongst collegiate athletes. Barrow also won her section in the 200 with a season-best time of 24.33.

Jalyn Harris continued her strong freshman campaign with a seventh place finish out of 54 entrants in the 400, running a season-best time of 56.09. Lakin Hatcher finished in 19^th with a time of 56.94

Saturday's events get started at 10:00 a.m. MT with the 60-meter hurdle qualifiers and the pole vault and are followed by the triple jump (10:30 a.m. MT) and 60-meter qualifying round (10:40 a.m. MT). The 60 semi's will be at 12:15 p.m. MT and the finals will take place at 2:15 p.m. MT. Other races featuring Aztecs include the 400 (1:55 p.m. MT), the 800 (2:40 p.m. MT) and the meet's final race, the 4x400 relay (3:15 p.m. MT).
