May 20, 2017 (San Diego) - Aztecs baseball rebounded in a big way last night with a 13-3 win over Fresno State.  They would try to win the series today on Senior Day with senior Cody Thompson on the mound for the Aztecs against another senior, Dominic Topoozian for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs let the Aztecs have their fun last night, but today, it was all FSU.  In the third, junior Aaron Arruda blasted a three-run homer to left to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

Junior Tyler Adkison put the Aztecs on the board in their half of the third with a single to right.  The Bulldogs still led 3-1.

But the Bulldogs added more in the fourth.  Seniors Austin Guibor and Jake Stone both scored two with a single and a two-run homer to make the score 7-1 Fresno State and kick Thompson out of the game.

In the fifth, sophomore Zach Ashford singled up the middle to score a run and the Bulldogs increased their lead to 8-1.

The Aztecs threatened in the seventh, but only got one run when junior Chase Calabuig grounded into a fielder's choice to score a run.  The Bulldogs led 8-2.

Stone added his second home run of the game in the ninth and junior Jared Akins blasted a two-run homer off of Aztecs senior C.J. Saylor to secure the 11-2 game win and the 2-1 series win for the Bulldogs.  The Aztecs lose their Mountain West title.

SDSU now awaits an opponent and a location for the Mountain West Tournament on Tuesday.
