MORE PUBLIC LANDS CLOSE DUE TO FIRE DANGER

September 1, 2021 (Sacramento) -- The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has closed 33 properties that lie within or immediately adjacent to U.S. Forest Service (USFS) boundaries due to extreme fire conditions. Effective immediately, these properties are closed to the public through Friday, Sept. 17.

July 1, 2021 (San Diego) - The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has undertaken the largest wildfire protection and resiliency effort in its history, working to safeguard nearly all of its wildlife areas, ecological reserves and the surrounding communities from wildfire ahead of peak wildfire season this summer and fall.

RARE TURTLES REINTRODUCED IN EAST COUNTY

August 3, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)-The Sycuan Peak Ecological Preserve in East County has some new residents: five Western pond turtles just released into the wild, the San Diego Zoo has announced.
