September 29, 2022 (Sacramento) – East County’s legislators unanimously supported a measure signed into law Sept. 14 by Governor Gavin Newsom. It’s aimed at addressing a dire problem: homeless people suffering from untreated mental illness or substance abuse disorders.

The CARE Act ensures hospitals give instructions to a caregiver and the patient upon discharge (AARP)

May 22, 2016 (Sacramento) --  Nearly five months after it went into effect, health advocates say the CARE Act is making a big difference in the amount of education patients and their caregivers receive.
