October 27, 2012 (Lemon Grove)--Get ready to rumble.  Not content with just putting on the much-anticipated eighth annual Chili Cook-Off & Western Round-Up on November 3, Soroptimist of Lemon Grove has added -- gasp! -- judges!

That's right, pals, though you, your family and friends, will still deliver The People's Choice Award -- a coup de grace bestowed only on a gifted few -- the Big Jalapeño will be announced after a trio of judges has eaten themselves into a chili-induced torpor, then retired to consider the verdict.  (Actually, they'll be in a back room with ice packs on their heads, pencils in hand, pleading for a bodyguard.)

     You shall know their names:

  •          School Superintendent Dr. Ernest Anastos
  •          City Manager Graham Mitchell
  •          City Attorney James Lough

It gets better.  Among the chili chefs will be Mayor Mary Sessom, all five city council members and some hopeful council candidates, not to mention firemen, restaurateurs, plumbers, cowboys, cowgirls, and your Great Aunt Hattie.

From the schools to city hall to the courtroom, there is no hot seat hotter than the one in a local chili contest, starring every mover and shaker in town.

Buy your $15 per person tickets now for the 6 - 9 p.m. event in St. John of the Cross Parish Hall, 8086 Broadway.  Call 619-741-6748, or Email johnjennymen@cox.net  for prompt ticket delivery and/or pickup.  Or buy them at door.
