November 10, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) -- I join the many who are writing their reactions and expressing their grief about the election.  Tuesday night and Wednesday were shock, numbness.  Last night sleepless again and today tears, mourning.   Here is my written contribution.

This is a message to those who voted for Donald Trump to lead the greatest democracy in history, be they Republican, nonpartisan, angry American, disaffected Democrat.

Watch carefully: changes are coming to your daily life by laws that will be passed by the House of Representatives, the Senate, the President, the Supreme Court.  We will all be watching, we will all be affected.  I will try to remain optimistic.  Perhaps some changes will help better your everyday lives -  create more jobs, increase your income, satisfy your quest to ensure your cultural and religious beliefs are protected from those who look, love and pray differently.

Know that your vote made these laws possible.  If you believe the American people ultimately have the constitutional power to govern our country, it means you agreed to take responsibility for the consequences of your vote. You cannot have the power without the responsibility.  If you lose your health care, if you continue to earn poverty federal minimum wage, if your social security is controlled privately and your benefits are reduced, if your community is ravaged by a flood due to increasing unchecked global warming, if your neighbor or parent are deported, if increasing involvement in foreign wars result in the death of your daughter or son, know you agreed to the possibility of these changes. If you say you did not understand what you were signing onto when you voted you are not taking responsibility for your action.  It was your duty to understand.  When you selected Donald Trump to represent you his message to change America was clear, only he neglected to tell you how he would do it and you did not take the time or have the interest to ask. Who did you really care about, when you voted, yourself or your country?  Ask that question before you vote the next time.
