June 14, 2017 (San Diego's East County) - A long duration heat wave is forecast to develop across the deserts in southern California beginning Friday and lasting through much of next week.  How hot could it get?  Temperatures could reach 114 degrees in Palm Springs.  Here in San Diego County, Borrego Springs could hit 108 degrees, Ramona 96 degrees and Alpine 94 degrees.

High heat can be a killer.  Never leave children or pets in a vehicle unattended, even for a few minutes.  Avoid outdoor activities if possible.  If you work outside, stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade as often as possible. Check up on the elderly and disabled, and those without air conditioning, the National Weather Service recommends.

Coastal temperatures will be more moderate, with temperatures in the low 80s along San Diego’s shoreline.
