September 10, 2017 (Phoenix) - If the Padres were teenage boys, last night, they’d have bought tons of alcohol and partied and they’d have earned it after their ninth inning rally that helped them topped the snakes 8-7 and win the series regardless of what happened today.  A sweep would be pretty nice, though, and the Padres went for it today with Luis Perdomo on the mound against Robbie Ray for the Dbacks.

They started off well in the second as Luis Torrens singled up the middle to score Jabari Blash after he hit a leadoff double to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.

But then the Diamondbacks came back.  J.D. Martinez hit a solo, game-tying homer in the second.  In the fourth, Paul Goldschmidt did the same thing to give the Dbacks the 2-1 lead.

Yangervis Solarte tied the game in the sixth on a sac fly that scored Jose Pirela, but the Diamondbacks would have the final say as Martinez hit his second home run of the game in the Dbacks’ half of the sixth to give the Dbacks the 3-2 win and avoid the sweep.  The Padres still win the series, though, so there’s that.

The Padres get a well-deserved break from the National League and a day off tomorrow as they head to Minnesota to face the Twins on Tuesday.  First pitch is at 5:10 p.m.  Travis Wood starts against Kyle Gibson for the Twins.
