July 1, 2017 (San Diego) - Last night was bad. But luckily in baseball, you get second chances immediately after. Rich Hill started for the Dodgers against a new face for the Padres making his MLB debut, Dillon Overton. He has a 6.38 ERA. Of course he does.
That glaring ERA showed early in the first when Overton gave up a single to Logan Forsythe that scored Chris Taylor and the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead.
Hill worked some pitcher magic in the fourth with a single that scored Forsythe for a 2-0 LA lead.
Two homers by Corey Seager and Justin Turner in the fifth boosted the Dodgers to a 4-0 lead.
You know how you think nothing bad is going to happen with two outs? You know how this is the Padres we're talking about? Taylor hit a grand slam in the seventh and with that, the Dodgers put the icing on the cake that was their offense tonight and took the series with an 8-0 shutout win.
The finale is tomorrow at 1:40 p.m. Kenta Maeda starts for LA against Jhoulys Chacin.
