September 4, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres have to be feeling pretty good about themselves after a 3-1 series win over the Dodgers.  Now the Redbirds come into town.  Carlos Martinez started tonight’s game one for the Cardinals against Luis Perdomo.

Perdomo kept the game scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Cardinals swooped in hard.  Yadier Molina aired a double to left center that Jose Pirela just missed the catch on.  Two runs came in to chants of “Yadi!”   A crucial double play allowed the Padres to escape the inning with only a two-spot, but 2-0 was all the Cards needed as Martinez pitched a complete game shutuout to give the Redbirds the game one win.

Game two is tomorrow at 7:10 p.m.  Michael Wacha starts for St. Louis against Travis Wood.
