September 13, 2017 (Minneapolis) - How many times this season have we began a game recap with “last night was a night the Padres would like to forget” or some variation?  Better question:  how many times over the past couple of seasons have we began a game recap with that?  Because we’re doing it again.  Last night was a night the Padres would like to forget.  Luckily, they could avoid a two-game sweep tonight with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Ervin Santana.

There was no sports-related abuse tonight.  On the contrary, this one turned out to be a major pitchers’ duel.  The Twins did score a lone run in the second on a wild pitch by Dinelson Lamet.  Eddie Rosario scored to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.

We wondered what was taking Austin Hedges so long, but he finally tied it in the eighth with a solo bomb to left.  Neither team could get their offense going and we were off to extra innings.

In a game that dragged on, it only took till the bottom of the 10th when--guess who--Rosario walked the Twins off with a monster shot just inside the right field foul pole and the Twins swept the Padres with a 3-1 win in what was otherwise a worlds better game for the Padres.

The Padres get another day off before getting back to NL West play with a trip to Denver for the weekend.  First pitch on Friday is at 5:40 p.m.  Clayton Richard starts against Tyler Chatwood for the Rockies.
