April 9, 2017 (San Diego) - Don’t look now, but the Padres have a chance to sweep a series.  Against the Giants.  With Clayton Richard on the mound against Johnny Cueto for San Francisco.

Oops, ECM jinxed it.  It started in the second.  Chris Marrero singled and scored two and the Giants took a 2-0 lead.

Then in the third, the home runs started.  Hunter Pence hit a two-runner and the Giants led 4-0.  Posey hit a solo homer and the Giants stood at 5-0.

Wil Myers put the Padres on the board in the sixth with a two-run blast and the Giants now led 5-2.

Yan Solarte narrowed the gap to two with a solo homer in the eighth to make it 5-3 Giants

Well, that was a quick home stand; the Padres are on the road again.  This time, they go to Coors Field in Denver to face the Rockies.  First pitch is at 5:40 p.m. tomorrow and Tyler will start Chatwood for Colorado against a pitcher to be named for the Padres.

Transaction news:

  • Trevor Cahill on 10-day DL retro to 4/6
  • Zach Lee recalled from El Paso
