August 21, 2023 (San Diego) - After the weirdness of Hilary, the Padres resume normal activities as they ironically welcome a team from Florida, the Marlins.  Ex-Padre Ryan Weathers started tonight’s game one for Miami against Michael Wacha.

Manny Machado hit a sac fly to deep left that scored Ha-Seong Kim and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

After three straight walks from Weathers in the second. Kim murdered a ball to left for a grand salami and the Padres led 5-0 after two.

Machado belted a solo homer to left center in the fifth and the Padres led 6-0 after five.

Josh Bell put the Marlins on the board with a deep solo homer to right in the sixth.  Jesus Sanchez doubled to score Jake Burger and the Padres didn’t get the shutout, but they took a 6-2 win in game one.

Game two is tomorrow at 6:40 p.m.  Jesus Luzardo starts for the Marlins against Blake Snell.
