ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES SAVE GAME ONE IN ARIZONA

August 11, 2023 (Phoenix) - The Padres bring their misery to Phoenix for the weekend.  Blake Snell started tonight’s game one against Ryne Nelson for Arizona.

Christian Walker doubled in the first to score Corbin Carroll and the Dbacks led 1-0 after one.

 
But Xander Bogaerts saved the day with a two-run blast in the second and the Padres led 2-1 after two.
 
Juan Soto tripled in the third to score Fernando Tatis Jr. Manny Machado singled to score Soto and Jake Cronenworth blasted a two-run homer and the Padres led 6-1 after three.
 
Ha-Seong Kim singled in the seventh to score Trent Grisham.  Ketel Marte hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth and the Padres led 7-2 after six.
 
Ex-Padre Tommy Pham narrowed the gap with a three-run homer in the eighth and the Padres led 7-5 after eight.
 
But the Padres added a safety cushion in the ninth with Tatis Jr.’s double to left to score Ha-Seong Kim.  Soto singled to score Tatis Jr. and Bogaerts singled to score Soto and the Padres took a great game one 10-5.

Game two tomorrow is at 5:10 p.m.  Rich Hill starts against Zac Gallen for the Diamondbacks.
