April 8, 2023 (Atlanta) - Both the Padres and Braves have one game apiece.  The Padres looked to take control tonight with Michael Wacha on the mound against Charlie Morton for Atlanta.

Juan Soto started things off with a solo homer in the third to deep right and the Padres led 1-0 after three.

Jake Cronenworth beat out a throw by Ozzie Albies to home in the fourth on a Rougned Odor fielder’s choice.  Matt Olson’s throw on Trent Grisham’s fielder’s choice missed home plate, allowing a run to score and the Padres led 3-0 after four.

Olson put the Braves on the board in the eighth with a line drive to center that scored Sam Hilliard.  The Padres still led 3-1 after eight.

Ex-Padre Kirby Yates gave the Friars some extra insurance in the ninth when he threw a wild pitch that scored Odor from third.  The Braves threatened in their half of the ninth, but the Padres prevailed and took game three 4-1.
