ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES TAKE SERIES LEAD ON HOMER-FILLED NIGHT

September 2, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres evened the series with the Giants last night.  Both vied for the series lead tonight with Kyle Harrison on the mound for San Francisco against Blake Snell.

Juan Soto kicked things off in the first with a solo homer and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

 
Xander Bogaerts added on with a solo homer in the second and Gary Sánchez added another for the third Padres homer of the night and the Padres led 3-0 after two.
 
Garrett Cooper drilled a three-run homer in the sixth to left and the Padres took the series lead with a 6-1 win (Austin Slater doubled to score Casey Schmitt in the ninth).
 
UP NEXT 
 
The rubber game is tomorrow at 1:10 p.m.  Alex Cobb starts for the Giants against Seth Lugo.
