ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES ON TARGET AT TARGET FIELD

May 9, 2023 (Minneapolis) - The Padres have left Petco Park for the Midwest, specifically Minnesota, for three games against the Twins.  Michael Wacha started tonight’s game one against Louie Varland for Minnesota.

Matt Carpenter singled in the fourth to score Juan Soto, but Jose Miranda tied the game on a double that scored Byron Buxton and we were tied at one after four.

 
Austin Nola got the go-ahead with a sac fly in the seventh that scored Ha-Seong Kim, Jake Cronenworth walked with the bases loaded that allowed Fernando Tatis Jr. to score and the Padres led 3-1 after seven.
 
Manny Machado sealed the win with a three-run bomb in the ninth and the Padres owned the Twins with a 6-1 win.

Game two is tomorrow at 4:40 p.m. and will be MLB.tv’s free game of the day.  Seth Lugo starts against Pablo Lopez for Minnesota.
