August 29, 2023 (St. Louis) - The Padres had a great win last night in the opener against the Cardinals.  They tried to take the series tonight with Seth Lugo on the mound against Zack Thompson for St. Louis.

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a sac fly in the first that scored Ha-Seong Kim and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

Nolan Gorman tied it in the second with a long single to right to score Masyn Winn and we were tied at one after two.

Jose Azocar saved the day with a two-RBI single to right in the third and the Padres led 3-1 after three.

Jordan Walker hit a line drive sac fly to right in the fourth that scored Willson Contreras and the Padres led 3-2 after four.

Luis Campusano added insurance with a solo homer in the sixth to left, but Contreras kept it close with a homer in the bottom of the sixth and the Padres led 4-3 after six.

Kim added more insurance with a sac fly in the eighth that scored Matthew Batten, but Contreras ended the good times with a two-run jack in the bottom of the eighth and we were tied at five after eight and we went to extra innings.

The Cardinals got the last laugh when San Diego native Tommy Edman singled in the 10th to score Winn and the Redbirds evened the series with a 6-5 win.
