April 26, 2023 (Chicago) - The Cubs soundly shut out the Padres last night. They tried to take the series tonight. The Padres would try and stop them with Michael Wacha on the mound against Drew Smyly for Chicago.
Jake Cronenworth kicked things off in the fourth with a two-RBI triple, but Trey Mancini blasted a two-run homer in the bottom half and Nico Hoerner singled in the fifth to score Patrick Wisdom and the Cubs led 3-2 after five.
Fernando Tatis Jr. came through in the seventh with a two-RBI single and did it again in the ninth to score Ha-Seong Kim and the Padres evened the series with a 5-3 win.
UP NEXT
The rubber game tomorrow is a traditional Cubs start time at 11:20 a.m. Seth Lugo starts against Hayden Wesneski for Chicago.
