May 12, 2017 (San Diego) - Yesterday...well...to be frank, it wasn’t a good day for the Padres.  But tonight they started a weekend series against the White Sox, so maybe they’ll do better up north. Jhoulys Chacin started against Miguel Gonzalez for Chicago.

The Padres have successfully indoctrinated the new guy.  Matt Szczur homered in the first to give them a 1-0 lead.

Austin Hedges doubled in the third.  That scored two and the Padres led 3-0.

The White Sox crept back in their half of the third with Leury Garcia’s two-run bomb to make it 3-2.

But Hedges made it 4-2 in the fifth with a solo home run.  Allen Cordoba drove in a run with a single to left and the Padres led 5-2.

Garcia hit his second home run of the night in the seventh to make it 5-3, but the rally would stop there.

Wil Myers hit the Padres’ third home run of the game in the ninth to give the Padres the 6-3 win in game one.

Tomorrow’s first pitch is set for 4:10 p.m.  Trevor Cahill will start against Dylan Covey for the White Sox.
