ISIS suspected of mustard gas attack against U.S.and Iraqi troops (CNN)

ISIS is suspected of firing a shell with mustard agent that landed at the Qayyara air base in Iraq Tuesday where US and Iraqi troops are operating, according to several US officials….No US troops were hurt or have displayed symptoms of exposure to mustard agent. One official said the agent had "low purity" and was "poorly weaponized."

White Tulsa police officer charged with manslaughter in death of unarmed black man (Washington Post)

…Tulsa District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler filed a first-degree manslaughter charge against officer Betty Shelby, nearly a week after cameras filmed her shooting 40-year-old Terence Crutcher as he stood beside his stalled SUV. Moments earlier, the video showed Crutcher walking toward his car with his hands above his head while several officers follow closely behind with weapons raised.

Family releases video of Keith Lamont Scott’s shooting (CNN)

… The video is the first publicly released footage related to the shooting, which spurred days of protests in Charlotte. "Don't shoot him. He has no weapon," Rakeyia Scott can be heard saying. The first portions of the shaky video appear to show a number of police officers surround a vehicle in a parking lot. A man repeatedly yells for someone -- apparently Keith Scott -- to "drop the gun." "He doesn't have a gun. He has a TBI (traumatic brain injury)," Rakeyia Scott says. "He's not going to do anything to you guys. He just took his medicine."

Feds Finalize Rule on a Native Hawaiian Government (Hawaii Public Radio)

The U.S. Department of the Interior has finalized a rule that creates a pathway to federal recognition for Native Hawaiians…The Department of the Interior’s announcement allows Native Hawaiians the choice to determine whether and how to reorganize its government. The new relationship would be similar to the tribal status of Native American Indian groups.

Aleppo Under The Most Intense Air Bombardment Since Syrian War Began, U.N. Says(NPR)

Less than a week after a U.S.-brokered Syrian ceasefire collapsed, the city of Aleppo is being pummeled with the most intense air bombardment since the beginning of the conflict, according to the U.N….  Since late last week, "there have been repeated reports of airstrikes involving the use of incendiary weapons and advanced munitions such as bunker buster bombs," the statement continues.  "The secretary-general underlines that the apparent systematic use of these types of indiscriminate weapons in densely populated areas may amount to war crimes.”

 Colombia's center-right government and the Marxist FARC rebel group signed a peace deal on Monday to end a half-century war that killed a quarter of a million people and once took the Andean country to the brink of collapse.

A gunman shot dead Jordanian writer Nahed Hattar on Sunday outside the court where he was to stand trial on charges of contempt of religion after sharing on social media a caricature seen as insulting Islam, state news agency Petra said.
