September 7, 2014 (El Cajon)—Two people have been transported to the burn unit at the University of California San Diego Medical Center due to smoke inhalation and minor burns suffered in a bedroom fire early this morning.

Heartland Fire & Rescue crews in El Cajon, along with the Santee Fire Department, responded the structure fire at 704 Hillsview Road El Cajon. As firefighters arrived on scene, they found that residents of the home had the fire almost out.  Once inside fire crews found the fire in a bedroom area and had it fully extinguished in less than five minutes.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.  Fire damage to the bedroom was minimal.
