July 14, 2016 (Lakeside) - Are you ready for a challenge? El Capitan is arguably one of the most rugged and difficult trails in San Diego County. Bring a gallon of water and snacks, a hat, sunscreen and wear sturdy shoes for this very difficult 7-hour, 12-mile round-trip hike up to the top of El Cajon Mountain.
Be prepared for several thousand feet of elevation gain and loss on very steep and slipperty sections of the trail. Rangers will meet in the El Capitan Preserve parking lot at 8 a.m. every Saturday in June and July if you’d like to join them on the hike. The hike will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please dress in layers. Inclement weather will cancel this event. Call 619-561-0580 for information. Please note: El Capitan Preserve is closed in August due to extreme heat.

Sunrise
It's gonna be hot by nine o'clock, sunrise is at 05:51. I can't be there but 05:30 would be a good to meet for a pre-hike briefing.
