EXPERT ON MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT TO SPEAK JULY 17 IN EL CAJON

July 13, 2014 (La Mesa)—Farouk Al-Nasser, PhD, will speak on the current conflicts in the Middle East at a meeting of the East County Democratic Club on Thursday, July 17.  The event will be held at Coco’s Restaurant, 1025 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon with dinner (available for purchase) and socializing at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m.   The meeting is free.

Farouk Al-Nasser was born in Iraq. He is a graduate of Baghdad University, University of Colorado and University of Denver with a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering, respectively. During his 42 years career in the high tech industry, Dr. Al Nasser held technical, operational and senior executive management positions at Fortune 500, mid-size and start-up companies in California and Colorado. He is the founder of two data storage companies in San Diego County.

He came out of retirement in 2003 to join a Fortune 500 San Diego-based Corporation as an Executive Director of the Iraqi Operations.

Between August of 2003 and Sept 2004, he spent seven months in Iraq and two months in Jordan and Lebanon managing corporate activities in Iraq & Jordan. Farouk again retired in 2006.

Farouk is a past President of the World Affairs Council of San Diego, current member of its board, and a member of the Continuing Education Center at Rancho Bernardo academic committee.

Since 2006 Dr. Al-Nasser made more than 160 presentations to civic, social and non-profit organizations, and local universities on topics including:
