August 29, 2013 (San Diego’s East County) – A flash flood watch has been issued for mountains, valleys and desert areas in San Diego’s East County and other areas in southwestern California. The watch is in effect for this afternoon through 10 p.m. this evening.

Slow-moving thunderstorms are expected to produce very heavy rainfall with flash flooding.  Debris flows are possible in and below areas burned by recent wildfires.

Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Have a plan of action ready to move to higher ground When warnings are issued. You should monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action if the flood watch is elevated to a flash flood warning.
