April 21, 2012 (San Diego) -- To help celebrate Earth Day 2012 the Environmental Protection Agency has a number of activities that anyone can take part in.  Ideas include a photo project and an essay contest among others.

“Environment in a Day” photo project involves taking a photo any time on Earth Day April 22 and sharing it on Flickr.  The “Six Words for the Planet” essay contest can be shared at http://www.smithmag.net/planet and requires just six words about the planet.

“Pick 5” is about committing to at least 5 actions, such as use less water and electricity, reuse and recycle and more, that will help protect the earth’s resources.

Visit the EPA’s website at http://www.epa.gov/earthday/ for further details about these activities and more Earth Day ideas.
