December 8, 2021 (San Diego) - The holidays are only weeks away, and the CDC has shared safer ways to celebrate as COVID-19 and its variants still impact the public. From vaccinations and masks to being outdoors, the country continues to bubble back to life daily, but not everyone will – or can – join in. Seniors are one such group. The past two years have delivered far less than holiday cheer as they struggled with social isolation, loneliness, and hunger more than ever.

CONGRESSWOMAN SARA JACOBS VISITS MEALS ON WHEELS, HELPS DELIVER FOOD TO SENIORS IN SPRING VALLEY

Volunteers are needed at Meals on Wheels

August 10, 2021 (Spring Valley) – One in 10 seniors in San Diego County  is experiencing hunger and nearly half of local seniors live alone. Today, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs toured the Meals on Wheels facility in San Diego, then joined Meals on Wheels local president Brent Wakefield to delivery food to Spring Valley seniors – Margaret, who is 98 years young, as well as a military veteran, Larry, and his wife, both 90.

MEALS ON WHEELS SAN DIEGO COUNTY PRESIDENT/CEO DEBBIE CASE ANNOUNCES HER RETIREMENT FROM THE NON-PROFIT

July 24, 2019 (Jamul) -- After 11 years, Jamul resident Debbie Case, President & CEO of Meals on Wheels San Diego County, has announced her retirement. December 31, 2019 will mark the end of Case leading one of the largest regional senior wellness programs for home-bound seniors in San Diego.

HEALTH CARE LIBRARY IN LA MESA WILL HIGHLIGHT MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM FOR ELDERLY

July 20, 2016 (La Mesa) – The Grossmont Healthcare District’s Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, will host “More than a Meal,” a free presentation about Meals on Wheels San Diego County, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27. The program is part of the library’s Wellness Wednesday series, normally held on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. Advance RSVP is not necessary. Speaking will be Brian Midkiff, community outreach coordinator with Meals on Wheels San Diego County, a community nonprofit organization.
