August 18, 2016 (Lakeside) – A 58-year-old Lakeside man died at the scene of a three-vehicle crash in Lakeside yesterday afternoon.

The victim was riding a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Wildcat Canyon Road south of Muth Valley at 4:20 p.m. when he attempted to pass a 2014 Nissan Sentra and crossed over solid double yellow lines, said Officer Kevin Pearlstein with the California Highway Patrol.

As he passed the Nissan, he struck the left side of the vehicle, veered left and struck a dirt embankment.  He was thrown off the motorcycle into the southbound lane, directly in the path of an International truck.

“The driver of the truck had no time to take evasive action and struck the rider,” said Officer Pearlstein.

The rider succumbed at the scene due to the injuries sustained from the collision.  The other two drivers were uninjured.  No other vehicles were involved and alcohol and or drugs were not factors, Officer Pearlstein added.
