THREE LOCAL ILLNESSES MAY BE LINKED TO RECALLED ALFALFA SPROUTS

May 21, 2010 (San Diego) -- The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health is investigating three illnesses that match a Salmonella outbreak linked to three brands of alfalfa sprouts. Consumers and local grocery stores are urged to check for the recalled products.

 

The products are connected to 23 illnesses in 10 states, including 11 people in California. The latest known illness was on May 2. Six cases nationwide have required hospitalization.

170,000 CRIBS RECALLED DUE TO INJURIES, STRANGULATION & SUFFOCATION HAZARD

May 7, 2010 (Washington D.C.) The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with C&T International Sorelle, announces a voluntary recall of numerous drop-side cribs sold from 2000 through March 2010 in retailers nationwide for approximately $300-$600. This recall involves C&T International, Sorelle and Golden Baby wood cribs. The full-size cribs were sold in natural, white and cherry finishes.

FDA WARNS CONSUMERS: AVOID VITA-BREATH SUPPLEMENT MADE IN CA

 

Lead levels 10,000 times higher than legal level found
 

May 3, 2010 (Washington D.C.) --The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is advising consumers not to purchase nor consume Vita Breath, a dietary supplement manufactured by American Herbal Lab Inc. of Rosemead, Calif., and marketed at health fairs and on the Internet, because the product may contain hazardous levels of lead.

May 1, 2010 (Washington D.C.) –Working in consultation with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), McNeil Consumer Healthcare is implementing a voluntary recall of infant and children’s liquid products due to manufacturing deficiencies which may affect quality, purity or potency. Following McNeil’s recall announcement on Friday evening, the FDA is providing additional the following advice to consumers.

14 INFANT DEATHS PROMPT CONSUMER WARNING ABUT SLING CARRIERS FOR BABIES

 

TWINS, PREEMIES, YOUNG BABIES & INFANTS WITH COLDS MOST AT RISK

 

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising parents and caregivers to be cautious when using infant slings for babies younger than four months of age. In researching incident reports from the past 20 years, CPSC identified and is investigating at least 14 deaths associated with sling-style infant carriers, including three in 2009. Twelve of the deaths involved babies younger than four months of age.

BBQ GRILLS RECALLED DUE TO FIRE & BURN HAZARDS

Master Burner Gas Grills Sold at Lowe’s Stores

 

February 13, 2010 (Washington D.C.) The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the Sagittarius Sporting Goods of China, recently announced a voluntary recall of Master Forge five-burner gas grills. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately and contact the manufacturer for a free repair kit.

TOYOTA ORDERS FIX FOR 2.3 MILLION RECALLED VEHICLES

 

February 6, 2010 (San Diego) – Toyota announced it has identified the cause of a sticking accelerator problem believed to have caused the death of CHP officer Mark Saylor and three of his family members in a fiery Santee crash. The manufacturer has ordered recall of 2.3 million Toyotas.

TOYOTA EXPANDS RECALL DUE TO STICKING ACCELERATOR ISSUE

Toyota has dramatically expanded earlier announced recalls of vehicles due to problems associated with a sticking accelerator. The design flaw made national news after a stuck accelerator caused a tragic accident in Santee that killed a law enforcement officer and his family. The Toyota recall now includes some RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Tundra and Sequoia models including the following years:

June 8, 2009 (Washington D.C.)--The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory Inc. of Roy, Utah, is voluntarily recalling some skin sanitizers and skin protectants marketed under several different brand names because of high levels of disease-causing bacteria found in the product during a recent inspection.
