August 3, 2016 (San Diego) - Last night's loss was hard to swallow, so the Padres looked to split the series with the Brewers today during Way Back Wednesday.  Edwin Jackson started for the Padres against Junior Guerra for Milwaukee.

The Padres got started on the right foot.  Travis Jankowski scored in the first and the Padres took a 1-0 lead.  Christian Bethancourt singled, scoring two and the Pads went up 3-0.

In the third, Alex Dickerson added one more with a double that scored Yangervis Solarte and the Pads went up 4-0.

Wil Myers added two more in the sixth with a single and the lead was 6-0 Padres.  Solarte added another two on a two-run bomb and the score was 8-0 Padres.

In the seventh, the Brewers tried a pitching change, bringing in David Goforth, but that didn’t work because Jabari Blash hit a solo homer to give the Padres a 9-0 lead.  Jackson doubled, scoring Jose Rondon and the Padres’ lead went to double digits, 10-0.  Schimpf doubled, scoring Jankowski and the score was 11-0.

The shutout went away in the eighth when Scooter Gennet singled, scoring Jonathan Villar and the Brewers made the score 11-1.  Ryan Braun hit his second home run in as many days, a two-runner that made the score 11-3.

Bethancourt grounded into a double play in the Padres’ half of the eighth, scoring Solarte and the Pads went up 12-3.

The Padres get a day off tomorrow before the Phillies come to town on Friday.
