October 1, 2016 (Phoenix) - It's now October.  Sadly, the Padres won't see any of it past this weekend.  But they had two more games to play for fun.  Archie Bradley started on the mound for Arizona against Clayton Richard.

Tonight was a statement night for the Dbacks.  Jean Segura scored on a passed ball to make it 1-0 Dbacks in the first. Brandon Drury singled to score Chris Owings and it was 2-0.  The kicker was Yasmany Tomas’ three-run homer and it was 5-0 Dbacks.

The Padres got on the board in the third with a double by Yangervis Solarte that scored two and the score was 5-2 Dbacks.

Owings hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to score Segura and the Dbacks led 6-2.  With the bases loaded, Drury walked in and the snakes led 7-2.

Owings struck again, hitting a sac fly in the seventh that scored Segura and the Dbacks led 8-2.

Wil Myers singled in the top of the eighth to score Jon Jay and the score was 8-3 Dbacks.  Hunter Renfroe doubled and scored Myers and the lead was cut in half, 8-4.  Derek Norris singled to score Renfroe and the Padres crept closer, 8-5.

But Mitch Haniger sealed the deal for the Dbacks with a solo home run and the Dbacks led 9-5.  They carried that till the end to take the game and the series.

Game three and the Padres’ last game of the season will be tomorrow at 12:10 p.m.  Paul Clemens will start against Matt Koch for the Diamondbacks.
