QUAKE RATTLES REGION

March 11, 2013 (San Diego’s East County) – A 4.7 earthquake  at 9:56 a.m. rattle San Diego and Imperial Counties.   The temblor was located 64 miles east of San Diego, 13 miles east-southeast of Anza and 23 miles south of Palm Springs. The U.S. Geological Survey has downgraded the strength of the quake, which was earlier estimated at 5.2.

Several  aftershocks struck the same area within minutes.  The exact location was  33.498°N, 116.462°W at a depth of less than 0.1 mile, according to the USGS.

The quake was felt across the region, jolting ECM's editor's office in the La Mesa area.
