When he was supposed to be working towards a PhD in Scottish Literature, author Ian Rankin instead spent those three years writing novels. He had worked a myriad of jobs, such as grape-picker, journalist, and swineherd before finding success with his Rebus series of novels. His latest Rebus novel is the much anticipated In a House of Lies.
