August 19, 2016 (San Diego) - After a big win last night, the Padres aimed to win again tonight in a less dramatic fashion with Jarred Cosart on the mound against Zack Greinke for Arizona.

The Diamondbacks started the scoring again.  In the second, Chris Owings singled, scoring Yasmany Tomas and the snakes took a 1-0 lead.

But in a pattern reminiscent of last night, the Padres tied the game in their half of the second on Christian Bethancourt’s single that scored Ryan Schimpf.  1-1.

The game remained tied until the seventh when Jean Segura attempted to steal third.  He not only reached, but thanks to an errant throw by Derek Norris, it became a double steal as the Diamondbacks took a 2-1 lead on Segura’s steal home.

The Padres tied it up again in their half of the seventh with Nick Noonan’s first RBI as a Padre:  a sac fly to drive in Bethancourt to tie the game at two.

But that would be useless come the eighth inning.  Segura singled, scoring Owens and Rickie Weeks Jr. and the Diamondbacks went up 4-2.

It looked like the game was lost, but Schimpf was the hero tonight; he launched a two-run homer to center to tie the game at four.  So we started again, heading to extra innings.  But as usual when comes to bonus baseball, the Padres didn’t keep us up for very long.  Schimpf belted another homer in the 10th, this time for three runs and the Padres walked off game two from the Dbacks 7-4.

Game three is tomorrow at an earlier start, 5:40 p.m.
